Extracurricular activities in BGS are planned according to the interests of the students. Thus, the list is increasing each year.
BGS drama club invites students from grades 3 to 11 are actively involved. It is planned to stage both dramatic and musical performances.
In BGS there is a Parents Club whose aim is to actively engage parents in school life so that they could collaborate with the school administration. Two parent representatives are selected from each year-group. Monthly meetings are held on the last Thursday of each month.
BGS offers its students (From Year 3 up to Year 11) classes in classical and modern ballet.
Georgian and Modern Dance Clubs
The dance ensemble “BGS Gremi”, composed of our schoolchildren has been functioning since 2014. The practice takes place twice a week in our dance studio. The ensemble is constantly participating in concerts and folk festivals, and has received the following diplomas and awards:
Georgian Folklore Development International Association – Laureate
III Folklore Festival of Caucasian Peoples (Baku) – Laureate;
Children’s Youth Charity Festival “Future of Georgia” organized by “Magic Sounds” association – laureate.
BGS students with good vocal skills are invited to join the vocal club.
The school football club “Lions” was created in 2016, where boys of IV, V, VI, VII and VIII classes are playing. Their practice takes place in the second half of each Friday on our universal stadium. “Lions” has already conducted several friendly meetings (“New School”, “European School”, “Atinati”, “Iakob Gogebashvili School”, “British International School in Tbilisi”) and we can proudly say that our team was the leader in all the matches.
In addition to the basic subjects, students additionally have other types of subjects aiming at developing various skills: music, drawing, singing, ceramics, chess, karate and dance. They can also participate in other physical activities (football, basketball, volleyball and table tennis).
The project “Dialogues” has been taking place in BGS for 2 years already, aiming at developing students’ thinking and analytical skills and forming the right system of values. Topics covered with different grades are: I-V Grades – Me and the Universe; VI – VII Grades – Love of Wisdom; VIII – IX Grades – National Identity; X – XI Grades – Modern Challenges. Lessons are fully interactive.
Throughout the academic year, students have educational outings and excursions, a two-week trip to mountain ski resorts and a month trip to Summer Schools in England, Spain and Malta all accompanied by school representatives.
The school provides teachers with internships and exchange programs with two leading schools in the UK – Sidcot and Leighton Park Schools.
